Minecraft 26.60 is a new update. As an experiment, it adds the Ice Cave biome with Icicles and Ice Crystals, the Frostbite zombie, Ice Balls and the Freezing effect. It also comes to Nintendo Switch 2 and fixes lots of bugs.
What changed in Minecraft 26.60?
New in this update
- Ice Cave (experimental): a new cave biome under cold biomes, made of Packed Ice and Calcite, with big icicles and patches of Snow.
- Ice Crystals (experimental): a glowing block that is the only light in Ice Caves. You can place it facing any way.
- Icicles (experimental): they hang from cave ceilings, grow up to 5 blocks long in the dark, and can fall and hurt you.
- Frostbite (experimental): a zombie in cold places that throws Ice Balls and freezes you with its hits. Zombies and Husks stuck in Powder Snow turn into one.
- Ice Ball (experimental): the Frostbite's throwing weapon. It does a bit of damage and pushes you back.
- Freezing effect (experimental): makes you shake, jump lower and take damage over time. Leather Armor stops you from freezing.
- Potion of Freezing and Arrow of Freezing (experimental): brew the potion with Ice Balls, then dip Arrows in a Cauldron of it.
- Minecraft now runs on Nintendo Switch 2, and you can use Vibrant Visuals there.
Gameplay
- Fixed Bundles losing their items when you put them in a Double Chest.
- You now take fall damage when you land on a solid block right at the edge of water.
- Bonus Chests show up again in the Water World and Snowy Kingdom flat worlds.
- Fixed Regeneration from Axolotls stacking forever.
Mobs
- Fixed Villagers that stopped responding if you opened your inventory while talking to them.
- Grown-up baby Horses can't squeeze through one-block-wide hallways anymore.
Blocks
- Wool and Concrete make the right instrument sounds with Note Blocks again.
- Fixed Cushions vanishing when a chunk loads again.
- Fixed Redstone dust not showing when it climbs up one side of a block and steps down on the other.
Commands
- Fixed players getting kicked from the game when a command like /tell or /kick targets nobody.
Accessibility
- Fixed captions so baby turtles and baby polar bears show as "Baby Turtle" and "Baby Polar Bear".
- Turning off Extra Large UI now puts the menu size back to normal.

- Install over: uninstall the Minecraft you have. Clone: skip this step.
- Open the downloaded APK. When Android asks, allow installs from your browser (Install unknown apps), then tap Install.
- Open Minecraft. Sign in with a Microsoft account to wear the unlocked capes and emotes.
Install over or Clone?
Install over replaces the Minecraft on your phone. Clone is a separate app that sits next to it, so the Minecraft you have stays as it is. Both work on every phone and have the same features.
Android says “App not installed”. What now?
The Minecraft already on your phone was signed by someone else, such as Google Play, and Android only updates an app with a file from the same signer. Uninstall that copy first, or take the Clone.
Will I lose my worlds?
Uninstalling Minecraft deletes the worlds stored inside the app, which is why the exported copies matter. Import them afterwards by opening the .mcworld files. The Clone does not touch your current Minecraft or its worlds.
