What is BetterRenderDragon?
BetterRenderDragon is a free mod for Minecraft Bedrock on Windows that adds options to Render Dragon, the game's graphics engine. Since Render Dragon arrived, Bedrock no longer reads shader files from resource packs on its own, so the classic way of installing shaders stopped working. BetterRenderDragon puts that back: shader packs built for Render Dragon (.material.bin files) load again, straight from a resource pack. It is an unofficial mod, not made by Mojang or Microsoft.

Which Minecraft versions it works with
BetterRenderDragon hooks into the game's code, so every release is made for one Minecraft line. Version 1.7.5 supports 26.40 – 26.4x. It does not list 26.50 or newer yet; on a newer game it may fail to load or do nothing until an update comes out. Earlier releases covered 26.3x (1.7.4) and 26.2x (1.7.3).
It is a Windows mod only. It does not run on Android, iPhone, Xbox or PlayStation.
Which file to use
The ZIP holds both builds. Load one of them, not both:
BetterRenderDragon.dll — with the in-game menu (F6). Start with this one.BetterRenderDragon-no-imgui.dll — the same mod without the menu, if the menu causes problems on your PC.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11 with Minecraft Bedrock in a supported version (26.40 – 26.4x for 1.7.5).
- A DLL injector made for Minecraft Bedrock (MCBE DLL Injector is the usual one; any injector works), or LeviLauncher, which can load the DLL from its Mods page.
- A Render Dragon shader pack if you want shaders.
How to install BetterRenderDragon
- Download the ZIP with the button at the top of this page and extract it to a folder of your own, for example
C:\BetterRenderDragon.
- With an injector: open the injector, click Select and pick
BetterRenderDragon.dll. Start Minecraft, then click Inject once the game is open.
- With LeviLauncher: open the Mods page, choose Import .zip/.dll, pick
BetterRenderDragon.dll, then start the game from LeviLauncher.
- In game, press F6 to open the BetterRenderDragon menu.
- For shaders: import the shader pack, then turn it on in Settings → Global Resources like any resource pack.
Shaders on Android
BetterRenderDragon is for PC. On a phone, our Minecraft PE APKs load Render Dragon shader packs on their own, with no injector: see Minecraft PE for Android.
Frequently asked questions
My antivirus deleted or blocked BetterRenderDragon. Is it safe?
The DLLs here are the official 1.7.5 files, unchanged; their SHA-256 hashes are at the top of this page. Antivirus programs flag them because the DLLs are not signed and get injected into another program, which is what malware does too. Add the folder to your antivirus exceptions and extract the ZIP again.
I can't find the BetterRenderDragon menu.
Press F6. If nothing opens, check that you loaded BetterRenderDragon.dll and not the no-imgui file, which has no menu.
Error: "FindFirstFileW failed … The system cannot find the file specified."
The DLL is gone from the folder your injector uses, almost always because the antivirus removed it. Add an exception, extract the DLL again and inject it again.
Does BetterRenderDragon work with Minecraft 26.50 or newer?
Not yet: version 1.7.5 is made for 26.40 – 26.4x. It needs an update for each new Minecraft line; this page will carry the new release when it is out.
Is there a BetterRenderDragon for Android?
No, it is a Windows mod. On Android, shader packs work in our patched Minecraft PE APKs without any extra app.
